My New Light Box

by Matt on January 24, 2011

Yesterday, I had few people email me and ask me about my new light box…

To make it, I used this on .

It was actually really easy and only took me about 30 minutes from start to finish!

Yes, that is a shoe holding the light up…

Hey, sometimes you have to be resourceful right?

I am hoping that it allows me to take better photos during the darker hours, which seems like all the time during the winter months.

Since I do most of my cooking and photography at night, it is nearly impossible for me to get any kind of decent lighting. Hopefully having a light box will eliminate those issues!

I haven’t had a whole lot of time to play around with it yet, but I plan on doing some experimenting this week. I need to get a new background first though…

The one I have right now is hideous.

Do you have a light box? Do you have any tips for me?

5:00 came WAY too early this morning! I stayed up late working on a special project (that I am not going to reveal just yet), so getting up was a little bit of a challenge. I was also really excited and I could barely sleep!

Do you ever have those nights where you just have a million different thoughts racing through your head?

I totally had one of those nights! Don’t worry though, I am really excited :)

After writing that post last week about getting up early to workout, I had to live up to my post.

Monday Workout

Elliptical: 45 minutes

Running: 7.23 miles (7:29 pace)

The weather was actually kind of “nice” for running today.

41 degrees and cloudy. Not ideal, but it is a hell of a lot better than what we have been having the past few weeks. I would rather it be around 50 degrees, but beggars can’t be choosers right?

Once I got my body moving, this was the best feeling workout that I have had all month :)

To break up the monotony of my daily routine, I decided to run to the gym, cross train, and run home. It saves gas, so why not? I’m going to run anyways, so I might as well save a few cents ;)

Do you ever run to the gym or run to do errands?

One time in October, I rode my bike to the post office to pick up a package. The package was so big that I couldn’t ride it home! I had to call a friend to come and pick me up ;)

How awesome is that light box! While we dont have any need for one at the moment – I suspect I will be checking back on these tutorials come winter!

I keep seeing bloggers make light boxes, but my place is TINY- I don’t have anywhere to put it!! I should probably just learn to use my camera better…

I ran to the bank once and ended up talking to the teller for a while about running. It was awesome!

I’m with Corey – sub-zero temps are getting old! I would love a 41-degree day. Ahh! I am dying to be outside again.

Making a lightbox is on my to-do list! I should probably get on it before the days get longer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You just saved me $500.00, that’s how much light boxes are going for in the skymall cataloge.

I used to run to the gym all the time. When its only a mile from my house, I felt kinda lazy if I didn’t! Plus campus parking is always a challenge.

I love walking or riding my bike to run errands! But like you mentioned…you have to keep in mind how much stuff you’re picking up. :)

41 degrees?? I’m so jealous!!!
And I love the light box – I have one, too, but haven’t had a chance to use it as much as I’d like. I need practice!
