Greek Grilled Shrimp Skewers

by Matt on January 19, 2011

The flavors of the Mediterranean hane to be one of my all time favorite combinations.

Fresh herbs…

Olive oil…

Not only do I love Mediterranean flavors, but I also love grilled shrimp. People down here in Alabama only like them breaded and deep fried, but I love the lightness and the freshness of this dish.

I served this as an appetizer dish for a friend over the weekend, but this could easily be served as a main dish. If you are looking for a simple meal that is loaded with flavor, these shrimp will hold their ground

Greek Grilled Shrimp Skewers

  • 1 pound of wild shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Juice from one lemon
  • Zest of 1/2 a lemon, minced
  • 1/4 fresh oregano, chopped (or 2 tsp dried)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 2 TBS olive oil

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together all of the ingredients except for the shrimp.
  2. Toss shrimp in the marinade and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Skewer the shrimp and grill for 3-4 minutes, or until just cooked through.

We love grilled shrimp, too. With a little balsamic reduction (and brown sugar) and red pepper flakes we eat ‘em up!!

I’m not a fan of shrimp (or much seafood) but the flavors on this sound great :)

I really need to try grilled shrimp! Your recipe looks INCREDIBLE! I’ve only had shrimp breaded and fried (which isn’t very good for you)– now I need to try it grilled! Thanks!

Grilled on a cedar plank with bbq sauce! Have you ever grilled on a cedar plank? Doing salmon that way will change your views on salmon forever.

And the grass-fed beef tonight… wow!
