Welcome Home

by Matt on December 30, 2010

Did you read about my 2011 goals?

Nothing says welcome home like a flat tire…

After a long day of traveling yesterday, Alabama said “hello” by providing me with a flat tire at the airport.

Fun stuff right?

Unfortunately, life works in mysterious ways and we just have to deal with it.

To be honest, I am not the handiest man in my neck of the woods. Basically, that means that I am not the best person to change a tire. I know how to do it (sort of), but it is not something that I am 100% comfortable actually doing.

I guess I am lucky because there was a maintenance guy who offered to help me fix it (see above photo). It probably would have taken me an hour to fix it by myself, he had me rolling (pun intended) in about 15 minutes :)

My car now has a sexy spare tire on it ;)

Luckily it is a full size tire, so it rides like normal and I did not have any problems getting home. As soon as I get off of work today, I plan on my old tire fixed or getting a new one if they cannot fix it. I really hope I do not need a whole new set! I want to trade my car in when I graduate, so I just need it to last a few more months!

Have you ever had a flat tire after returning from a long trip?

Other than having a flat tire, it feels great to be back home (at school). For some reason, I keep mixing up the term “home” with my apartment and back at my parents house in Texas! I get so confused which is actually my real “home”, but right now, my apartment is home. I consider myself moved out of the house and going to my parents house is like a vacation ;)

I can’t believe that I still have two weeks until school starts back up again! Luckily, I have plenty to keep my busy ;)

My work schedule was a little wonky today, but I actually really liked it!

Work: 5:45-9:00

*Workout*

Work: 11:45-2:00

Working early does not really bother me all that much for some reason. I am going to be up anyways, so I might as well work right? As long as I have a little break in there to workout, I am good to go ;)

Running: 8.8 miles

Cycling: 43 minutes on my bike trainer

Running: The perfect cure for any exercise addiction.

Especially when the weather is 55 degrees!

Afterwards, I caught up on , so I had a 43 minute ride planned. The beauty of watching the show the next day is that I can skip the commercials ;)

Who else is watching ? Who are you rooting for?

I’m cheering for Richard! He should have won his season, so he deserves this. I want Richard and Tre to make it to the final round.

Ugh – flat tires are the worst! I have weird flat tire “luck” (if you can call it that?). I’ll go for years with no problems, then I’ll get a flat like once a week for a month! No bueno! Hopefully this will be your only tire problem for a good while!

Who knew the travel glitch would only happen once you were safely back in ‘Bama? Glad someone was there to help out!

I would love to work super early and have the rest of the day to workout and cook.

flat tires aren’t too hard to fix, especially if you just ran over something and there’s a hold; they can just put a plug/adhesive layer inside the tire and you’ll be as good as new!

I’ve never gotten a flat, but my dad takes me out to the garage and makes me show him how to do it every few months. He’s petrified that his little girl will be stuck somewhere and not know how to change a tire!! Also why I can drive a stick shift…cars are one thing my dad and brother will not let me be a girl about.

Looks like you have some great goals for 2011! I have some general goals in mind, but I need to write them out and make them more focused. :)

If we had cable I’d totally be all over watching top chef! That’s a sweet schedule you have. I’d love such a long break for exercise.

Oh gosh. I honestly don’t know what I would do if I got a flat. I have no idea how to change a tire. Maybe I should add that to my list of New Years Resolutions. ;)
