T Minus 10 Days

by Matt on December 15, 2010

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Can you believe that Christmas is a mere 10 days away? What are you looking forward to most this year?

Christmas is a very special time for me, like I’m sure it is for most other people. When I was younger, Christmas basically had one meaning for me: presents. I remember that it was like a competition with my friends to see who got the best stuff. C’mon, you know you did too ;)

However, over the years, Christmas has become so much more than that.

  • Laughing with my family over stupid jokes.
  • Opening presents on Christmas morning.
  • Going to movie as a family after Christmas dinner (family tradition).
  • Decorating the Christmas tree.
  • Going shopping with my mom the day after Christmas (yes, I am a total bama-momma’s boy)
  • And oh so much more.

All of these little things added together make one very special holiday experience for me. Going away to school has really made me treasure the holiday season. When I lived at home, Christmas just seemed like an excuse to eat some fried turkey, open presents, and not have to go to school. Now that Christmas means a trip home, I try to enjoy it as best as I can.

To be honest, I am not a very religious person, so I don’t really think of Christmas in the religious aspect. For me, it’s a time time to get closer to my friends and family and appreciate the nice things they have done for me.

What does Christmas mean to you?

In honor of the holiday season, I have a 30% off coupon to can be used towards ANYTHING in my . The coupon was actually sent to me for my personal use, but honestly, I don’t need it and I don’t want it. All of my Christmas shopping is done, so I want to give it away to someone who actually needs it.

If you are interested in the coupon, please leave me a comment telling me that you are interested and what Christmas means to you. I’ll pick someone tomorrow.

This is not some giveaway used just to get people to come to my blog or anything like that. I just want to give something away that someone will put to good use and save a few dollars in the process.

Happy Holidays!

————————————————————————————–

This mornings workout was a “30-30-30.”

Running: 30 minutes (4.1 miles barefoot)

Elliptical: 30 minutes of intervals

Cycling: 30 minutes of hill intervals

Perfect way to start the day :)

I never once thought I would say this, but I really enjoy cross training. Instead of running 10-12 miles every single day like I have done for the past year and a half, cross training really brings a lot of enjoyment to working out. It feels like something different every single day instead of the “same old same old” (which started to get REALLY boring)

Don’t get me wrong, I am still a running addict (and I always will be), but for now, a 10 mile run a few times a week with shorter runs in between sounds perfect to me ;)

Okay, I am not sure I would use this coupon before it expired, because Christmas is this month and all three of my sons have birthdays immediately after (so I’m broke in January, too!), but Christmas to us is about family. I’m really hoping that next year I will have all my boys at home for Christmas, one more time. But please pick someone else if it expires soon, because February is the next time I get to spend money on myself.

I love getting together with my family for the holidays. My parents always decorated the house to the hilt, leaving no corner un-Christmas’ed. The glow of the tree, the fire going and the scented candles *sigh* it brings me back. I’m so glad to have Christmas off this year from work. Can’t wait!!

Christmas is all about family. As I get older, I love the laughter as we tell stories from way back when. I love how people’s faces light up when they get a great gift. I love the endless feasts. It’s so special!

The stupid jokes reminds me of salmon loaf. Ha ha! We always laugh over that one. I can’t wait till the 22nd.

Should I try making it when I come home? That would be hilarious!
