Nut Butter Addict

by Matt on December 11, 2010

Can you believe that I have 23 jars of nut butter in my apartment?

My cupboard with the closed jars

My pantry with the open jars

I think I pretty much have them all…

  • Almond Butter
  • Cashew Butter
  • Peanut Butter
  • Walnut Butter
  • Pecan Butter
  • Macadamia Butter
  • Sunflower Seed Butter
  • Pumpkin Seed Butter

Should I keep going?

My cupboard houses a variety of different nut butters with varying prices, from different brands, all with different textures and tastes. Some days I want something smooth and sweet, while other days I want something rich and chunky.

What can I say…

I love variety!

If was an actual “nut butter”, that would take the number one spot. Since it’s not, here are my five favorites:

My Five Favorite Nut Butters

#1:

Of my favorites, this is actually the cheapest one! I’ve bought jars that cost $18.99, but this jar of $4.69 peanut butter from earns my number one spot.

It has a rich, roasted peanut flavor. It’s a little on the runny side (which I like) and it melts perfectly on warm oatmeal or a piece of toast. With a hint of agave, this peanut butter is perfect in ever way.

I also like that it is fortified with flaxseed, which offers a dose of ALA Omega 3’s.

#2:

Coconut and peanut butter in one jar?

Enough said. You can read my full review here.

#3:

Have you ever had Nutella?

This stuff seriously tastes exactly the same, but made with organic ingredients.

This nut butter is extremely creamy and rich. The chocolate adds a silky smooth texture and perfect level of sweetness to the nut butter. While eating this with a spoon, you will feel like you are eating dessert ;)

#4

This nut butter is so rich and delicious! If I could describe it in one word: Decadent.

Since this tiny jar was around $20, I only eat it about once a month! I wish I could afford to eat it daily, but if I did, I would be living out my car.

#5 Cashew Butter

is the only brand of cashew butter I’ve tried, so I guess that’s my favorite. Haha.

This is sweet, smooth, and creamy.  It’s perfectly salted and just sweet enough. Cashew butter is one of those nuts that’s commonly overlooked, but it is definitely one of my favorites. The flavor is hard to describe, so it’s one of those that you just have to try for yourself. Trust me, it’s good stuff.

You’ve probably noticed that almond butter isn’t on my list. Honestly, it just doesn’t do anything for me. For me, it’s peanut butter all the way ;)

What is your favorite nut butter?

Okay, get out of my head. I just posted about Naturally Nutty. I saw your tweet on this and had to come check it out.

I really like the Naturally Nutty cinnamon Pb. I love Justins almond. I have not tried the chocolate but if the sugar content is low enough, I’ll try some!

Why aren’t you out getting milk and bread??? It’s going to SNOW!!! (probably not, but the weather geeks say yes. I got seriously burned last year when the snow went AROUND T-town, so I’m now a snow grinch)

When is it suppose to snow?

Tomorrow. I seriously don’t see it happening. We have some weird dry heat thing around t-town. But they are thinking there might be more of a chance of freezing rain if the rain is not gone by the time the arctic blast sweeps in overnight into Sunday.

Dude, it’s time for an intervention. 23 JARS?! I can barely keep one open jar in the house at a time… mostly b/c I just want to eat it straight out of the jar… but that’s an issue for my OWN sort of intervention!! :)

I’ve been meaning to buy Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter for awhile now. I’m also a big fan of cashew butter. YUM.

I’m so impressed! I love earth balance almond butter, justin’s maple almond butter, smucker’s natural peanut butter (the kind in the glass jar), and any from trader joe’s! I could go on of course but I won’t :)

You may have a problem with 23 jars. Just saying….

My favorite of them all is almond butter. I never seem to get sick of it.

I love just about any type of nut butter. I actually picked up some 365 brand Almond Butter last night, and it is awesome! Also, much cheaper than a lot of the other brands. Besides AB, Peanut Butter is my all time favorite. The “grind your own” Honey Roasted PB at Whole Paycheck is great! You should give it a whirl.

i could not be more envious of your nut butter stash. i have to limit myself to two jars at a time, otherwise i would not be able to afford my rent. true story.

fave nut butter of all time – this one is hard, but i have to say justin’s maple almond butter is right there at the top for me!
