Rose Bowl Recap

by Matt on January 8, 2010

Well, I am heading back to Texas in a few hours after going to the Rose Bowl! It was a blast!

Here is a little recap and some pictures to prove I was there ;)

That is my ticket. We actually had really good seats. My dad really really wanted to go and I feel bad that he had to pay about $1,000 per seat for us to go. I told him thank you about a million times already!

If you guys haven’t noticed, I am not a huge “talker” here on the blog. I think that is just the way I am; I get to the point. Here are some pictures to recap my events.

National Championship 001

We got there about two hours early and walked around for awhile drinking beer and buying t-shirts.

National Championship 002

National Championship 008

National Championship 005

National Championship 007

Things were wild… I thought this sign was pretty funny.

National Championship 009

LOL.

Then the game started!

National Championship 010

National Championship 017

National Championship 019

And of course they won :)

Last night was seriously a blast. We had such a great time and I am truly thankful that I was able to go. It was one of the best nights of my life.

I was actually up for about 24 hours yesterday with the time change. I slept about 7 hours last night though, so it’s not too bad. I will put in some napping hours on the long plane ride home. I am literally exhausted, but I still pumped out some miles on the good old Marriott treadmill this morning.

Friday Marriott Dreadmill Run

Time: 1:11:40

Distance: 10 miles

Average Pace: 7:10 per mile

I did a progressive tempo run to hurry things up and get off that damn thing as soon as possible. My dad also kept calling me and telling me to hurry up because he wanted to go get breakfast. I was pretty hungry too since my dinner consisted of a soft pretzel and beer at the game. We had a huge Thai feast for lunch, so I wasn’t too hungry and I can’t eat that shit that they claim is “food” at the game. I had a lot of delicious carbs though so I was well energized this morning.

The treadmill was old and ratty and I am actually surprised the thing worked. I actually maxed out the speed on the last mile ;) That is beastly! I had full intentions of running outside, but we are staying at the Marriott at the airport and I don’t really want to run on the run way and get run over by a plane. That is not my idea of a good run…

Boring, but I will add 10 sweet miles to my training log.

Time to pack up and head back to Texas. Then Alabama tomorrow :) I CAN’T WAIT TO GET BACK!

H-O-L-Y Crap, I am eternally jealous you went to that game, not only did you get to see the Longhorns play (heehee couldn’t help it, I am a TX fan) but you got to see it in the Rose Bowl. So cool. Yeah you owe your Dad big time! Safe travels back to Alabama!

glad you had a fun time at the game! i’m glad alabama won :) as a hotel treadmill expert, i hate the rickety ones. sometimes they have nicer ones, which are much easier to put up with. it’s hard to make myself run on the old junk ones.
