Exhausted

Wow it is only Monday and I am already exhausted. I have a feeling it is going to be a long week…

I started my Monday with an early morning run…

Time: 1:22:25

Distance: 10.37 miles

Average Pace: 7:57 per mile

I got plenty of sleep last night, but I did not feel well rested this morning. It was really difficult to get out up this morning, but I finally dragged myself out of bed after only one snooze session. Perhaps I just have a case of the Mondays?

It took me FOREVER to get warmed up. Just when I started to get into my run, it was already time to head back. Don’t you hate when that happens? I didn’t feel crappy or anything, but I just never really felt into my run. It was like I was running, but I wasn’t really accomplishing anything. Does that make sense? It almost felt like I was plodding away on the treadmill, but I was outside. That is something that should never have to happen. Period.

After about 40 minutes of dilly dallying around, I picked up the pace to try and get myself out of this funk. It worked! Maybe I just needed to get a little sweaty. Picked up my pace by about 20-30 seconds and I actually felt like I was running! Haha. I’m not sure what the issue was before, but the rest of my run was great. I was a sweaty beast afterwards. Maybe I was just bored with the same old same old. Same distance, same route, same time, same everything. Maybe I need to switch things up a little bit? Has anyone gone through this?

I try to mix up my runs, but sometimes I just fall into the same routine. I need to start taking some new routes or something. Does anyone have any ideas to switch things up?

My run left me energized for the rest of the morning, but now I am really dragging. I am getting ready to get off of work here in about an hour at 6:00, so hopefully I can just relax tonight and get to bed early.

How was your Monday?

And make sure you check out these giveaways!

  • was this just one run or has this been going on for a while? if it’s the latter it’s prolly a touch of burn out or something like that, but from your posts lately i don’t think that’s the case. if it’s just every once in a while then i find it helpful to run new routes and go on exploration runs / drive to a state park or something like that just to get out of any sort of routine i have set up

Oh it is deff the later. I think I was just unmotivated, which rarely happens, so that is why it was such a shock.

  • I always find that it takes me at least 3 (as a minimum) and up to 6 miles to get into a comfortable groove. But once I find my groove I am good to go. But it doesn’t seem to matter what route I run, outside, treadmill, etc….it always takes that long for me to get into my zone!

  • Also, I want to add that I to have the 5-6 mile zone to get comfy. Once I get to that point I feel like I could go forever, I go into “robot runner mode” where nothing seems to bother me.

  • No ideas for you, but it sounds like it was just “one of those days.” I’m sure you’ll be back to your normal crazy running self tomorrow.

  • I always like taking new routes! Sometimes on my lunch hour I’ll get in the car and drive around plotting out new routes. (obsessed I know). But it’s fun to mix things up – especially on long runs when the same route can get really boring! I have to have change. Love your blog. Someday I’ll be a hardcore runner like you. Right now I’m just thankful to run 10 miles at a whack.
