Have you guys made your goals/resolutions for the new year? I’ve been thinking about mine lately and I came up with a little list:
Running
- Run three marathons
- Qualify for the Boston Marathon
- Keep lifting weights and doing my core workouts for injury prevention
- Stay injury free (this is kind of tied to number 3)
- Keep running “killer” mileage (FYI this is my new nickname from Jen)
- Basically, I just want to keep working hard and doing what I love.
- Run 3,500 miles. I got over 3,000 this year
Life Goals
- Get my grades up (or at least keep them where they are at)
- Get an internship this summer
- Go out more and try to meet new people. I have some great friends, but my social life seems to be a little stagnant at the moment. You know what I mean?
- Stop stressing out over the little things in life. I am a worry wart! Haha.
- Keep working and saving money.
I don’t really make new years “resolutions”. I just pick a few things that I want to work on for the coming year. Writing it down will keep me motivated.
What are your goals for the new year?
Of course I did run today as well
Monday Run
Time: 1:45:10
Distance: 13.2 miles
Average Pace: 7:58 per mile
I had another glorious run this morning
Running is seriously going so well right now. I seem to feel good on every run. What is wrong with me?
I slept in again today until about 7:40. For me that is sleeping in; I know it isn’t for most people but just remember that I am not most people
I was really tired last night though and the sleep was much needed. I stayed up too late playing around on my new computer!
I was decided that I wanted to go to my favorite trails to run, so I went ahead and had some breakfast before running because it takes me a little while to get there. This place is seriously a running haven.
I got there around 10:00 and there were a ton of runners out! It was awesome. I love to see other people out running for some reason. It was kind of weird to see so many people out there running on a week day, but I think a lot of people are taking off this week because of Christmas and New Years. Thank God my parents are working though…
I did one loop and a little extra around the lake. The trail doesn’t go all the way around, but it does go a good ways out there. One of the things I like about running out there is the isolation. No cars, few people, and some great scenery. It gives me some time to just settle into a nice stride and have a good run with no interruptions. When I want to run, I just want to run. Simple as that.
I think I will run fast tomorrow

Yes! I love it Killer, you are! Love that you set “Goals” and not “Resolutions”. I think it’s good to focus on the positive. And you have such GREAT ones too! I really like the ‘stop stressing’ one – definitely one of mine
…I have too many and have to think about it…but prioritizing and not expecting so much of myself or expecting to be able to do it all…even 15 minutes a day of writing or yoga is something…I should consider myself fortunate.

Oh and try to find a way to be a millionaire and move to California and write for a living…if you or any of your readers can make that happen, please let me know
I just did a new years post too!!! I love your list…. definitely with you on the saving money part and at times the being more social (I know for me- this semester I had to stay in alot because of training for the marathon! oh well I dont regret any of it haha)…nice run today too!!! I ran my longest since the marathon today with my sister- it was like 8 miles–funny how that is “long” to me now haha I need to get back to my normal running!!
i did a new years post a few days ago. seems like they’re in vogue
i hear you with saving money. i’m being thrown into the real world and i want a semi-nice nest egg!
You’re a KILLER running machine! I don’t think you’ll have any problems hitting 3,500 miles, as scary as that is to say! Do you have your marathons picked out for next year? NYC?
I want to run 1k miles if I could do 3500 I would be so excited! I’m moving to Dallas this summer what is the running scene like? As a female I don’t want to run alone so am trying to figure out groups to join etc.
Great resolutions! I need to get my GPA up, and get a better social life. My life has been all consumed with running and school lately it’s kinda pitiful! Good luck on finding your internship. I have 2 lined up and it STILL isn’t the one I need for a job! :/
well you know, when you run 1900 miles a week it’s hard to have the time and energy for hanging out with friends
keep up the awesome running but yes, don’t let it take over your life! nice goals/plans for 2010!
That’s a lot of 2010 goals, good luck!
