Yes, I got stuck in the rain AGAIN. That makes three weekends in a row where I have had to put up with this. Someone out there obviously doesn’t want me to stay dry! If it rains in Chicago, I will seriously start crying.
I woke up and checked the radar and it actually looked like it was going to be OK for my run. I saw some storms coming in, but it looked like I had time to get my run in. I was pretty excited at this point. I headed out, but once I got about 1.5 miles in it was a complete down pour. This lasted for a few minutes, then it stopped, then it down poured for a few minutes, then it stopped. It continued like this off and on for about 6 miles, so at least it wasn’t a constant down pour. Once it stopped, it got really hot, humid, and sticky. I seriously can’t wait for this weather to be over. Fall… Where are you?
Other than that, I had a pretty decent run. This was technically my last long run for marathon training. It is taper time! I am going to work on my taper schedule this weekend. I plan on decreasing my mileage next week and decreasing it by about 60% the following week. I think I am going to cut out my strength routine until after the marathon as well. My strength routine is pretty pathetic right now; I really started neglecting it these past few months. I will get back on the wagon when this marathon is over. At least I am diligent about my core work though. I make sure to do it at least every other day if not every day. Sometimes I just run out of time after my runs.
The rest of my morning was spent doing errands and I relaxed this afternoon while watching the Alabama game. We rolled over Arkansas! It was nice to not go to the game actually. Sitting out there for three hours in the rain did not sound appealing. My neighbor invited me over for free pizza and free beer so there was no way I was going to turn that down.
Have a good weekend everyone!
