Happy Friday!
Time: 1:17:27
Distance: 10.07 miles
Average Pace: 7:41 per mile
I had a recovery run run on tap today before my long run tomorrow, so I kept it pretty easy and relaxed. The weather was great; it was probably about 65 degrees, cloudy, and there was a slight breeze. My run felt pretty good today; very relaxing. Runs like this make me love running for what it is.
I felt pretty good for the most part. My IT band is pretty sore, but that’s because I have been rolling it out pretty hard. I bought a new foam roller yesterday and it is doing the trick. That thing hurts like the dickens, but in a way it feels good. Hopefully the soreness goes away within a few days. It isn’t painful in the least; just sore. You know the feeling you get after a massage or heavy weightlifting session? It sort of feels like that.
I had a pretty good day today as well.
- I got my first paycheck.
- I got the Camelbak that I ordered. I might try it out tomorrow, but I might not. I don’t want to be stuck with it for 16 miles if I don’t like it. I will probably save it for my shuffle on Sunday. Anyone else use a Camelbak? My dad bought it for me, so if I don’t like it, it’s not a total loss. If I hate it, I will send it to him and he can use it for biking. I have heard some people like these so I will give it a shot.
- I got a delivery from POM Wonderful. They sent me some teas to review. I will do that at some point soon so stay tuned for those.
- I got a ticket for the Alabama game tomorrow night. I am pretty pissed about missing out on getting tickets this year. Luckily I know someone who didn’t want to go so I got it fairly cheap. A lot cheaper than if I had bought it from a random person.
Tomorrow is my long run and tonight is my “chill night”. The game tomorrow night is at 6 PM so I will probably be going out with my buddies after the game. I need tonight to unwind from a long week. I usually take one of my weekend nights to just chill and relax. The weekend is about having run and relaxing, so I split them up between the two nights. Anyone else with me on this?
Have a good weekend everyone! Stay tuned for a long run recap tomorrow!

Awesome delivery!!
Enjoy the game/run tomorrow!!
love how your recovery run / run before a LR is 10 miles. i wish i could do that!
enjoy the LR and the game. and i usually have one chill night and one going out night each weekend too.
i’m definitely with you on the weekend thing – i like relaxing at home on friday night, running long on saturday morning, and going out and doing stuff on saturday night. if i make plans for both nights i end up feeling like the weekend was just as tiring as the week!
i almost always do my LR on saturday and i love having all day sunday to relax/recover more, but lately my runs have been on sundays for timing reasons etc. my running buddy james ALWAYS uses his camelbak but his might be smaller than yours. he LOVES his. let me know what you think?? it looks easier than carrying a waterbottle..
Just wondering…do you ever get nervous or have those dreading feelings the night before long runs?
I totally agree with you on the taking one night to totally chill out and get ready for a longer run/race. Nothing wrong with that at all! I thought about a Camelback, but opted for a handheld water bottle instead. Seems to work fine unless I’m in a really bad mood. Haha. I hope it works out for you! Have fun at your football game tonight! I can’t wait until our schools play each other. Heh.
bag looks cool- let me know how you like it! im always looking for cool new bags- i really want the asics book bag. like the retroish looking one? hope you are having a nice weekend matt!
I really like my Camelbak for runs…though it feels really heavy at first.
I’m not sure how I feel about trying a camelbak while running…it seems like it could be heavy! But definitely convenient for water on-demand…
FYI I think I just facebook stalked you…or else someone is going to be REALLY confused…
Pom sent me coffee drinks! I want to try the team.
Cool Camelbak. It does look kinda on the big side…but it might just be the picture. What I did when I got mine was test it out on a shorter run, cause just like you said, you don’t wanna be stuck with it for a long run! I really like mine though…it’s sooo easy to drink from, and you don’t have to stop to drink…which I like a lot. Hope the game was fun!
why didn’t you get tickets? lottery system? jw.
hope the camelbak wasn’t too irritating. maybe good for the long, easy runs? do you even run those?
i don’t know how i would feel about having something on my back vs. carrying my bottle…. it’s all pretty annoying but i can’t afford to go without!
