Grilled Pizza

by Matt on September 24, 2009

Two nights ago, I had my very first experience with grilling pizza. Verdict? Delicious. I don’t think I will make it in the oven again. It had that “wood fired taste”. You know what I mean?

  • I started with a base of whole wheat pizza dough. I had some left in my freezer that was calling my name.
  • I spread it out and constructed a base of olive oil, homemade marinara, an Italian five cheese blend, zucchini, squash, and fresh basil.
  • I grilled it for about 10 minutes on medium heat. I did not want to heat it too hot because I was afraid the crust would burn. It came out perfectly crispy.
  • Once the pizza was done, I added some shrimp I cooked on the side. The last time I added shrimp to my pizza, I added it on there raw and it made the crust soggy. Never again.

Lol part of the crust fell off in the bottom!

It was a tasty meal!

That grilled pizza makes me wish I had a grill to use! What a great idea to put shrimp and zucchini on it!
